Pande Gede Supada
Pande Gede Supada was born in 1949 in Singaraja, Bali. Supada has established a unique style of blending the sensitivity of an impressionist with the bold techniques of an abstract expressionist painter. As such Supada’s work is easily appreciated by its audience at the same time possessing the latitude for imagination and interpretation that is associated with a great abstract expressionist artist.
Supada is currently a lecturer at the Senior High School of Fine Art (“SMSR”) in Bali. Through years of practice and experimentation, Supada has mastered the various genres of art forms, be it the classical impressionist painting or the expressionistic depiction of subjects or the manifestation of feelings and emotions via abstract symbols, forms and lines, Supada is able to command these art forms with ease. As an academia in fine art, Supada is firmly grounded in the fundamentals of artistic creation. This strong foundation, coupled with his personal experience as a practicing artist and his positive mental disposition, Supada’s art is always bold and full of life and optimism. The texture of his works is rich, giving its audience a strong sense of space while juxtaposition of colours and lines also allow the audience to have their own interpretation and enjoy the profound emotion of the subject matter.
At the age of 59, Supada is still highly charged and there seem to be no end to his urge to make art and challenge boundaries. His rich life experience and positive mental disposition have combined into wisdom that only a matured and confident artist exhibits. His physical health and mental agility will also allow him many more years of fine works.
